TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2011--STAR POWER  Send This Review to a Friend

Whenever I look back on the first two years of the Toronto International Film Festival (then called Festival of Festivals), during which I chaired the craft conferences, I think of how hard it was to get celebrities in contrast to the scene now. We were so enthused when we got Peter O’Toole and Frank Capra to be on a panel.

This latest Festival seemed more star-studded than ever, with media people vying for places from which to photograph celebrities walking the red carpet. Whether just making an appearance, addressing an audience at a screening or sitting for interviews, the famous converged on Toronto in great numbers.

For the record, a sampling of some of those attending, listed in no particular order, included:

George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Clive Owen, Vigo Mortensen, Jessica Chastain, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Garner, Felicity Jones, Elizabeth Olsen, Emily Blunt, Ewan McGregor, Ryan Gosling, Michael Hazanavicius and Keifer Sutherland.

Also Kirsten Dunst, Madona, Glenn Close, Rachel Weisz, Francis Ford Coppola, Ethan Hawke, Neil Young, Sara Silverman, David Kronenberg, Keira Knightley, Nicholas Cage, Joel Schumacher, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Jeffrey Wright, Rob Lowe, Alexander Payne and Bill Nighy.
