JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER

The centennial of jazz great Louis Armstrong will be marked by a variety of programs in the United States and abroad as part of the 2000-2001 ambitious season of Jazz at Lincoln Center, the arts organization dedicated to the preservation and proliferation of jazz. A busy and broad schedule was announced at a Lincoln Center press conference, and every press conference should be like this one. In addition to a recitation of the specifics, Wynton Marsalis and his Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra entertained with several bouncy numbers illustrative of the high-quality performance for which the group has achieved renown at home and in countries around the globe.

The forthcoming season is the organization's 10th, and it will contain some 450 performances, and educational events. For information about the Jazz at Lincoln Center program phone 212-875-5599.
