BAM ROSE CINEMAS

The borough of Brooklyn has a new movie complex, BAM ROSE CINEMAS, which has been opened by the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Four screens on two levels are dedicated to showing first run independent and foreign films. The project's director of programming is Daniel Talbot, who owns and programs the Lincoln Plaza Cinemas on the West Side of Manhattan and is a long-time booster of independent and foreign films. The Rose Cinemas curator-at-large is Adrienne Mancia, another top person in the film community, who also is a consultant for the film department of New York's Museum of Modern Art, where she served as a curator for many years.
